The 6th of June I'll have the honour of teaching a masterclass at The Sign Academy in Florence, Italy. It's open to students and former students of the school only, but if you are in Florence and want to check it out, hit me up on the email link to the right and I think I might be able to sneak you in. ;)
Hope to see you there, it will be fun! :D

If you grew up in the 90's like me, the name Robert Rodriguez should ring familiar.
He's the director behind classics like Desperado, Sin City, El Mariachi, Spy Kids and "From Dusk Till Dawn", which I watched and rewatched endlessly on VHS (also the soundtrack is a banger). In this YT interview he goes through his writing/filmmaking/problem-solving approach, and IMO it's a must watch if you are in any creative field (or want to be!) On top of giving great advice, the interview is also supremely inspiring. Please enjoy, and then go create some s**t! :D Here's a Thor drawing I made a few days ago. The intention was to mix Disney-like shapes with more superhero rendering. It was a lot of fun!
p.s. All done by hand, no digital involved. Here's an inked drawing of Xenophon, ancient greek warrior-writer. I first drew the image with my trusty Blackwing pencil on a journal and then inked it with various pentel brushes and way too much white acrylic. You can see the steps in the image gallery below. :) Hope you like it. I just made this tiny test in Blender, hope you dig it. I was trying to learn low-poly modelling and shading and thought: "Hey, if i push these 2 vertexes out, the guy sorta looks like Batman?" and this came out. Below the video a couple of images of the BG painting and a look at the super simple setup. The goal was to get it out and move on to the next one! One of the positives of being born in Italy is that you grow up with lots of beautiful nature and ancient architecture around... but with time it becomes easy to take them for granted. Luckily, my fiancèe is not Italian and this Sunday she successfully pushed me off the (very comfy) bed to check out the nearby Demidoff Park, which used to be owned by De Medici family and contains the famous Gigante dell' Appennino Statue. Here's a few photos from my Iphone: Here's the completed tutorial of the little Kawaii girl. I learned a ton...hope you like it! |
